I worked with the talented Molly Parden (vocals) and Brian Sanders (cellist) on this next installment in the Cities Suite. I was really inspired by my recent trip through Europe. Namely Prague.

You can probably hear the classical influence from the greats. I remember walking through the cemetery in Prague, seeing the gravestones of Dvorak and Smetana. Gravestones inscribed with music. Enjoy!

I’ve finally finished the first single in my “Cities” suite.

It’s called City of Lights, inspired by Paris and Hemingway. It tells the story of a woman searching for love through the City of Lights, when she had it all along.

You may hear notes from an old accordion mixed in, it was an old purchase from a music store. A lot of character.

Get it now on iTunes, Amazon or Spotify.

City of Lights (lyrics)

Really wanted to capture the feeling of subtle change. The feeling when you watch leaves slowly change, or wind blowing through the forest. A lot my piano pieces have been coming out with a strong pentatonic feel lately. Can’t really say why exactly, but I guess I’ll just run with it.

Feel free to download.

Recorded on a 1929 Steinway.

I wrote this piece up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I’ve noticed when I sit down at the piano these Native Indian sounds seem to come out. That old pentatonic sound.

Another piece written for a show, I wanted to get across a sense of mystery and nostalgia. I wrote for cello and played ukulele on this.

Another orchestral piece with french horn and strings. The director wanted these swells of emotion hitting twice in the piece. It’s interesting pairing the flute with french horn for that triumphant feel, but with a sense of the ethereal.

An orchestral piece for a show I’m working on about Billy Graham’s life. Arranged for french horn and strings on this one.
