Last night I went to downtown Portland with two locals Dustin and Andy to see the Rose Parade. It was a pretty cool event, lots of really tight marching bands and The Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers. Andy was pretty pumped about the marching bands, partly because he used to be in one (that played in the Rose Parade). It was a good time and good getting to know some good Oregonians.
I decided I would spread my photos of Antigua over several days, to get the most bang for the buck.
Antigua is quite a gem nestled in the middle of Central America. It’s said that Antigua used to be the capital of all Central America, now it’s more of a tourist attraction. Quite the picturesque place, with cobblestone streets and oil lanterns lining the streets. You’ll see quite a few foreigners here, many of them coming to learn Spanish.
Within plain view is the volcano Agua, which destroyed the original capital of Guatemala several hundred years ago. I have to say this is probably one of the prettiest cities in Central America.
