I’ve been a bit under the weather lately, nothing like some Lemon Chicken Soup to raise morale.
I took this photo near Mystic Sea Port, CT. I love the maritime feel of New England. Connecticut was actually a lot less built up than I expected. Lots of greenery and windy roads - good stuff.
It was interesting to find out that Connecticut is the wealthiest state per capita. They also have some of the lowest divorce rates (all of this was discovered on wikipedia whilst driving around on the afore mentioned windy roads). I only wish I had more time to explore New England. Until then, Connecticuter’s (correct name for someone from Connecticut) have my approval.
BTW, the conference I attended was very good as well. To sum it up in three words:
Convicting. Mind-renewing. Paradigm-shifting (what a word that is).
Heading home… I’ll listen to “Georgia on my Mind” by Ray Charles to get me in the right mind-set. I’m looking forward to editing a couple of lighthouse photos I got. I’m also looking forward to getting back in the cafe for some healthy eatin’ and Chai Lattes (we need to come up with a yerba maté latte one of these days, for Argentina’s sake).
Happy Mother’s Day to you!
There’s something about old New England cemetaries.
Vietnamese noodle soup with cilantro and lime. Probably one of the healthiest things you can eat other than raw spinach leaves.
New England Salmon, I recently started liking salmon again.
I’m heading to Connecticut today for a Christan conference. I’m looking forward to spending time in the North East, an area of the US I haven’t spent much time. There’s no telling what CT has in store for me.
Miles Davis, probably the classiest trumpet player that ever lived (followed closely by Louis).
Right now I’m studying arranging for horns, my mid-term assignment is to write an arrangement of a popular song using trumpet, trombone, and the three saxes. I picked “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, it will definitely have uke in it, not sure what else at this point.
My three snake-killing nephews.
This is pretty ridiculous.
I’m starting to make plans for the next album. As of now I have about 10 motifs/riffs/ideas for songs. Some pretty developed, some just voice recordings on my phone. Overall, I think the tone will be a bit less lighthearted for this album but far from dark. I’m really excited about trying some new directions with the music. I’ll keep you posted.
When will I record the album? Late summer-ish? I’m thinking I’ll work with Jeremy Larson again.
Today’s Lunch at the cafe.
- Tuna Spinach Wrap
- Pasta Salad with fresh olives
- Roasted Onion & Bleu Cheese Salad
This is quickly becoming a food blog…
I came home and found these two creeps making cookies.
This is what they made today at the café, a turkey philly. Alisa also made some Chai Cheesecake several days ago, two of my favorite things combined. Yum!
My favorite tree, the tea tree.
